The Brief
Band Together started in 2001, when a handful of friends in Raleigh responded to September 11th by throwing a benefit concert. Twenty-five years later, that instinct has grown into the Southeast’s largest annual charity concert and one of the longest running in the country, raising more than $15.4 million for 160 local nonprofits, with 200 businesses pooling their resources behind it every year.
For years, the signature event went by “Band Together’s Main Event,” which did its job for returning sponsors but never gave the night an identity of its own. What was needed was a name and a brand system that could carry the organization’s equity forward while still giving each year’s concert its own personality, tied to that year’s headliner and cause.
The Work
MRC named the Mighty Giveback and built the event brand system it runs on. The name had to work as an annual anchor, recognizable enough that sponsors and longtime supporters know exactly what night they’re showing up for, flexible enough to stretch across a very different lineup each year.
Since then, we’ve designed a new expression of that brand every year, taking cues from the headlining artist and the nonprofit partners while keeping Band Together unmistakably present. The work spans brand identity and event graphics, custom illustration, motion and video promos, signage and banners, sponsor recognition, apparel and poster design, social campaigns, and the sponsorship media kit that helps the team raise money before a single ticket is sold. In 2026, that included a 25-year anniversary mark for the organization itself.
A Long-Running Partnership
Band Together believes in the power of live music to unite people and inspire action, and they’ve spent 25 years proving it. One night a year turns into housing, healthcare, and support for people across the Triangle. Every October, the brand shows up on the signage, the stage, and the merch, and so do we, in the crowd with everyone else. There aren’t many projects that give you that.
